Study reveals dogs understand humans
Dogs use brain regions similar to humans, researchers say
HOUSTON - New research into our furry best friends shows they have the ability to distinguish vocabulary words and the tone of human speech.
Researchers found dogs use brain regions similar to those that humans use.
To do this, the researchers placed dogs in an MRI machine to measure their brain activity as they listened to their trainers talk.
They found regardless of tone, the dogs recognized each word and used the left hemisphere of the brain to do so.
So when you think they're not listening to you, it's probably just because they don't want to.
